STCW Fast Rescue Boat
Course Overview:
To give seafarers who are required to take charge of a fast rescue boat (FRB) the essential training to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements set out in Table A-VI/2-2
This course will take place at our Marina, located in Renfrew (near Glasgow Airport). As part of the course criteria, you will be required to perform an FRB capsize drill in a controlled pool environment. This will take place at our survival training centre in Clydebank. Our instructional team will advise the time this is due to take place during the enrolment session.

Course Content:
The learner will understand and perform the safe operation of a fast rescue boat during and after launch. This will include the following learning objectives.
Outcome 1: The learner understands the construction and outfitting of fast rescue boat and associated equipment
Outcome 2: The learner can take charge of the fast rescue boat, launching equipment, release mechanism(s) and associated appliances during launching and recovery
Outcome 3: The learner knows the routine maintenance procedures for fast rescue boats and measures for contingency repairs
Outcome 4: The learner knows the procedures for use of a fast rescue boat in casualty recovery operations
Outcome 5: The learner can take charge of a fast rescue boat to effect search and rescue operations
Outcome 6: The learner knows how to prevent and manage capsize situations
Entry Requirements:
Before commencing training, learners must have obtained a certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (Other than fast rescue boats) (PSCRB)
Certification(s):
Upon successful completion, candidates are issued with an MCA approved STCW Fast Rescue Boat certificate, valid for 5 years.
