STCW Proficiency for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties Course Overview
This course is designed to give those undertaking designated security duties on board a ship the essential education and training which meets the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements set out in the STCW Code and supporting chapter XI-2 of the annex of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 and the ISPS Code.
Course Content:
The course includes the following:
- The ISPS Code
- Threats to the maritime transport industry
- Maritime security definitions
- Security roles and responsibilities
- Company and ship security requirements
- Security threat levels
- Security measures and procedures
Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, although some sea experience would be advantageous.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the MCA approved course, all candidates are issued with an STCW Proficiency for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties certificate.
