GWO Basic Technical Training BTT (Electrical, Hydraulic & Mechanical)

GWO Basic Technical Training BTT (Electrical, Hydraulic & Mechanical)
Course Overview:
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training (BTT) course prepares participants for further company specific training by providing them with the necessary training to perform basic hydraulic, mechanical and electrical tasks under supervision.
The course typically covers a range of topics relevant to the technical aspects of wind turbine installation, maintenance, and operation. This BTT Training is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to work safely and effectively in the wind industry.
Course Content:
Course aims to provide participants with the essential skills, knowledge, and safety awareness necessary to work safely and effectively in wind turbine installation, maintenance, and operation roles.
Having successfully complete the BTT Mechanical module, the participant will have the ability to:
- Describe the main components, mechanical systems and basic operation of wind turbines
- Discuss risks and hazards associated with mechanics
- Explain the principles of bolted and welded connections and their inspection

- Perform inspection of the lubrication system
Having successfully completed the BTT Hydraulic Module, participants will be able to:
- Explain the basics of hydraulics
- Explain risks and hazards associated with hydraulic work
- Describe the function of different types of pumps
- Perform check of start/stop pressure of a pump
- Describe the function of different types of actuators
- Explain the function of different types of valves
- Describe the function of accumulators
- Perform check and pre-charge of accumulators
- Describe the function of different types of sensors
- Recognise the components that transfer the oil
- Describe the handling of oil procedures
- Recognise and find different components on a hydraulic diagram
- Perform the accurate measurement of the hydraulic pressure
Having successfully completed the BTT Electrical Module, participants will be able to:
- Explain the basics of electricity
- Explain risks and hazards associated with electrical work
- Recognise the function and symbol of electrical components
- Explain the function of different types of sensors
- Explain and interpret a simple electrical diagram, and perform assembly of it on a circuit
- Perform correct and safe measurements
Entry Requirements:
Participants are required to provide their WINDA ID prior to completing the training. If you do not hold a WINDA ID then please use the following address: Welcome – WINDA (globalwindsafety.org)
All participants must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training.
Certification(s):
All successful participants will be issued with the following GWO BTT course certificates:
- BTT Electrical
- BTT Hydraulic
- BTT Mechanical
The Basic Technical Training is an enduring qualification, so a validity period does not apply to this training.
