STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness Course Overview
STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness (MSA) is designed to provide those on board merchant vessels who do not have designated security duties with the essential ship security awareness training which meets the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements as set out in the STCW Code.
MSA training must be undertaken by all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board any ship which is required to comply with the ISPS Code.
Course Content:
The Ship Security Awareness course provides a mixture of practical and theoretical training including:
- The ISPS Code
- Recognise security threats
- Maritime security definitions
- Security roles and responsibilities
- Company and ship security requirements
- Security threat levels
- Security measures and procedures
Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates are issued with an MCA approved STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness certificate.
