STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting – Route 2 Course Overview
Course Overview –
STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting Route 1 covers Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code (paragraph 5) which states that ‘Seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 4 in advanced fire fighting shall be required, every 5 years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A VI/3.’
Course Content –
· Controlling fire operations on board ship
· Organisation and training of fire parties
· Inspection and servicing of fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
Entry Requirements –
Proof of completing the Advanced Fire Fighting training or equivalent as well as Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training within the last 5 years is required.
Seafarers who have a previous Advanced Fire Fighting certificate and have maintained the required standard of competence by onboard training and experience for all competencies listed in the self-declaration form.
Delegates are requested to provide a signed self-declaration form as a pre-requisite to attending the reduced hours entry route of the STCW revalidation course which is provided to you as part of your joining instructions.
Certification –
Upon successful completion, candidates are issued with an MCA approved STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting certificate.
