Clyde Training Solutions was delighted to welcome the first intake of a new Stena Line Onbaord Sales and Services (OSS) Apprenticeship Programme, as part of their intensive training in preparation for their new jobs onboard Stena Line Irish Sea vessels.
Over 20 apprentices from UK port locations converged on our centre in late May to receive firefighting and industry safety training. This represented the next step in their journey to becoming fully fledged staff having already received training covering the commercial aspects of their duties onboard.
Daniel Drummond, 21, from Belfast, said: “The training is so different to anything I have experienced before. This apprenticeship is the best opportunity for me and It has been a great experience so far.
“I have learned a lot in a short-time and have enjoyed working with and getting to know others on the apprenticeship.”
The training focused on Fire prevention and Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques and Elementary First Aid amongst other courses, and took place over a 6 day period.
This is the second year that CTS have underatken this training on behalf of Stena Line, with CTS enjoying the status of official training provider of Northern Marine Group, who in conjunction with Stena Line carried out the apprenticeship recruitment process.
The next step is for the trainees to complete their onboard familiarisation on the week commencing 5th June after which they will take up positions on the Superfast VII and Superfast VIII and start working towards their diplomas in Hospitality and Customer Care.
Everyone at CTS wishes them success in their new careers.
