Following on from December’s announcement that Clyde Training Solutions (CTS) had become the 200th firm across the world to achieve OPITO Training Centre approval, we are delighted to announce that after an on-site audit we have been successfully certified by the skills organisation for the oil and gas industry to carry out BOSIET, FOET and HUET related training.
Based on the banks of the River Clyde in Clydebank on the outskirts of Glasgow, CTS will become the first training centre in Scotland outside of Aberdeen to provide this mandatory and essential safety training for offshore personnel, with courses tailored to fit the regulations for workers in the UK / North Sea but also internationally.

Clyde Training Solutions’ director Colin McMurray stated: “We are delighted to receive this recognition from OPITO, and look forward to the courses beginning in earnest. “This approval marks the end of the first chapter in creating this unique centre which provides both marine and offshore training, but we won’t be resting on our laurels as we hope to announce further expansion of the centre in the near future.
“There has already been significant interest from individual delegates looking to fulfil their offshore safety training at our centre, and we believe this justifies our decision to build in Glasgow.
“For too long, tens of thousands of Oil & Gas workers based in the central belt have had to travel to Aberdeen or down south to undertake this training, not only adding to their costs, but depriving them of even more time with their family.
“In addition to providing an option closer to home for these workers, we also hope that by building this state-of-the-art facility and investing heavily in highly qualified trainers, we are demonstrating our support and belief in the Oil & Gas sector which is showing encouraging signs of moving back towards sustainable growth.”
Clyde Training Solutions’ dedicated maritime and offshore training centre offers multiple classrooms, dedicated deep-water pool, HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training module), and full fire training ground complete with training stack and helideck, all within easy reach of Glasgow Airport and Glasgow city centre.
