Clyde Training Solutions welcomes globally recognised drilling and well control subject matter expert to the team

Clyde Training Solutions (CTS) have appointed Jamie McHattie as Senior Technical Instructor, who brings with him 30+ years of drilling and well control experience, working on various assets including  Jack-ups, Semi-Submersibles and Drill-ships at various countries around the world.

Jamie’s knowledge of the industry and many years of experience in teaching a variety of Drilling and Well Control topics have ensured he is one of the industry’s leading SMEs in this field.  This experience will allow CTS to support our customer demands in both the Glasgow and Aberdeen markets, as well as further afield and virtually.

Commenting on his new role, and his style of teaching that has allowed him to connect so well with learners across the globe, Jamie stated: “a highlight of my job as an instructor is seeing people understand things they had been taught many times but found it hard to understand and retain. My way of instructing is ‘Keep it simple, we are not trying to land a man on the moon’.  I enjoy a laugh and joke, taking this into the way I instruct helps people to relax, A relaxed brain is so much more efficient than a stressed brain.

“I have joined Clyde Training Solutions at a time where it is evident there is a strong growth within the business that is backed by a positive culture and real ambition. The field in which I am responsible for will be a start-up project for Clyde Training Solutions, so this will be challenging and exciting at the same time. My aim is to get our new service ready and launched and to start getting our customers to book with us for our name, our quality of teaching and ensuring they leave the training facility both compliant and competent. I aim to challenge students but at the same time help them understand and apply resources to help them”

The appointment of Jamie allows CTS to continue its strategic vision of becoming the internationally recognised partner of choice, delivering customer focused competency solutions within the energy sectors. CTS are now in the development stage of our new services that will soon allow us to support our oil and gas customers with the training that they require to not only meet industry standards, but to also improve their drilling and well control competencies through advanced drilling and well control programmes taught in an immersive simulated environment.

CTS Global Business Development Lead Adam Wright added his own endorsement to the appointment: “Having seen first-hand the quality of teaching that Jamie delivers and the knowledge that he holds in this particular subject, I am delighted that Jamie has joined CTS to help the team continue our strong growth. Having previously worked with Jamie, I know he will fit very well into our culture and will be a valuable asset to the business. We are looking forward to helping Jamie integrate into the business and continue the development of our new service portfolio that will provide the support to our already strong and growing customer base”

We look forward to sharing with you further exciting news on these developments in due course.
