Blog: What is FOET?

Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) is the course you must pass before your BOSIET certificate runs out. Basically, it’s the BOSIET refresher. The good news is that the FOET course is only one day long instead of three days and it’s cheaper too!

This shortened course includes three modules – HUET, firefighting and self-rescue and emergency first aid. Most of your time on the course will be spent carrying out practical exercises, but we will also look to ensure you have retained the theory side of the training from when you did your BOSIET.

BOSIET is essential safety training for anyone working offshore and can be completed at our purpose built training facility in Glasgow. The certificate is valid for four years so you need to undertake refresher training before it expires to validate it for another four years. Likewise, the FOET certificate must also be revalidated every four years to allow you to continue to work offshore.

If the expiry date on your certificate is approaching make sure you book in for the FOET course before it runs out. Don’t leave it too late. If you forget to sit the FOET training before your current certificate expires you might need to retake your BOSIET training.

At Clyde Training Solutions we offer two courses that cover both UK and International aviation regulations as well as a package for those who also require Escape Chute Training.

FOET with CA-EBS (UK only)
Offshore Refresher Training Package (FOET Training with CA-EBS & EBS and Escape Chute Training)

So to recap – BOSIET is for newbies to the industry and FOET is for those who need to renew their certificate. No matter what stage you are in your career – we’re the one stop shop for all your training needs.
