Basic Training for Oil, Chemical and Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations

Course Overview:

This training is to give seafarers the essential education and training in tanker cargo operations to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements set out by the IMO Convention and Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW Code). Table A-V/1-1–1 & A-V/1-2-1

Course Content:

Training involves the following three elements:

  • Understand the properties of oil, chemical and liquefied gas and the associated hazards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply health, safety and environmental precautions and measures when working on tankers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out safe tanker cargo operations.

Required Qualifications

Students must complete training in Tanker Firefighting set out in tables A-V/1-1-1 and A-V/1-2-1 of the STCW convention and code 1978 as amended. 

NOTE - Certificate of Proficiency (COP) will be issued only to ratings and trainees.

All other ranks will be issued with Certificate of Training (COT). The Certificate of Proficiency (COP) will be awarded by the MCA once applied for by the delegate.
