Course Overview:
This course is to give seafarers the essential education and training in tanker cargo operations to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements set out by the IMO Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW Code). Table A-V/1-2-2.
This course is mandatory for: those wishing to serve on petroleum tankers in the capacity of Master, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer, or Second Engineer, or any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging or care in transit of petroleum cargoes
Course Content:
Training covers the following elements:
- The learner understands the physical and chemical properties of liquefied gas and the hazards and control measures associated with carrying liquefied gas onboard tanker
- The learner knows what is involved in the safe operation and monitoring of cargo onboard a liquefied gas tanker
- The learner is able to apply health, safety and environmental precautions in working on liquefied gas tanker
- The learner is able to perform and monitor safe liquefied gas tanker cargo operations in a compliance with legislative requirements
Entry Requirements:
Delegates must have completed the UK basic Liquified Gas cargo operations and must also have completed the tanker firefighting training as well as having served at least 3 months on a gas tanker.
*NOTE: Please note that anyone not meeting the prerequisites will be issued with a letter of attendance rather than an STCW certificate.
Certification(s):
On completion of the course and meeting pre-requites candidates will be issued an approved MCA certificate of Proficiency In Advanced Liquified Gas Tanker Cargo Operations.
